Rather than look for a new theme, I suggested styling the existing Shuttle Corporate theme. So that Rachel could see the changes I was proposing, I created a test site and applied the branding changes to the theme. I created a clearer, simpler favicon. Using custom CSS, I styled the header and footer areas, menus and buttons, showing different styling and hover options. Rachel was then able to confirm her preferences and this was quickly copied over to her own website on WordPress.com.
I reviewed the use of plugins, and recommended a new Instagram gallery plugin that again can be styled to match the brand. I created a new portfolio page to showcase this. Some minor restyling of the product pages was carried out, ensuring clear and prominent calls to action on every page.
Using a custom, reusable code blocks, I created an on-brand social media and contact block. This makes it easy to add to any page on the website.
Rachel had installed the fantastic Yoast SEO WordPress plugin, but hadn’t really configured it. So a final piece of work will soon see us sit down to work through the basic principles.
I also produced a guide on how to properly add images to WordPress, and the importance of the various fields for SEO, and general usability.
